FROM CHRONOMETERS TO REGULATORS
Derek Bryan
Derek was apprenticed to Frank Mercer
and spent 41 years with Mercers becoming Production Director. In
retirement, he makes regulators which are of traditional design but,
using modern engineering techniques and materials, achieve remarkable
levels of accuracy.

TIME OF CHANGE - CLUB EVENING.
A film made by
Smiths Industries in 1967 which describes the Anglo Celtic Watch
Company factory (known locally as 'The Tick Tock') in
Ystradgvnlais. The film runs for 25 minutes. The second
part of the evening will be a general discussion of horological matters
of interest.

VISIT TO THE WORKSHOP OF 'MOTIONWORK' IN
CLERKENWELL
We have been invited
by Matthew Hopkinson to visit his workshop in Clerkenwell which
specialises in the restoration of rare and complicated antique
clocks. At the moment he is working on two Fromanteels
& a Knib. Numbers are very limited and a ballot will be held if
more than six members want to come.

THE REMINICENCES OF A CLOCK CASE MAKER.
Peter Brown
Peter Brown
has been making and restoring clock cases for many years: his
talk will provide the distillation of his experience, disclosed for the
benefit of the Club.

The meeting will be followed by a presentation by John
Day about two very special, Early English, quarter repeating, pocket
watches.

SOME ASPECTS OF WATCHES AND THE FUTURE OF THE BHI
Peter Waller
Peter will be discussing some aspects of watches, including the current
action which the BHI is taking to persuade the Swiss watch
manufacturers to make spares available to the trade in this
country. He will also be explaining the future plans of the BHI. |

Clockmakers Company, will be talking to the Club about a wonderful
table regulator with a remontoire movement, which he has made. |

discussing the development of Hamilton chronometers, following the
attack on Pearl Harbour.

Hugh has made a study of the design and identification of painted long
